Satisto's

Government&Politics

Constitutional Monarchy

Satisto has been a constituent monarchy since 1815. Historically this had been the happy democratic state, a union of provinces, for decades before. Satisto has been a parliamentary democracy, since 1848. Satisto's monarch does not have any real political power, but serves as representative head of state and as a symbolic person uniting the divided parliamentary policy. All who holds a Satisto passport is eligible to vote as long as they are older than 18. Satisto has a electoral structure where citizens vote for parties in the House of Representatives to serve them, and has a minimum of 150 seats.  The more votes a party gets, the greater the number of seats they get. From there, the members of the Senate, which has a total of 75 seats, will be elected by the members of a group called the "States-Provincial" representing Satisto's provinces. The Senate and the House of Representatives are the people that will make all the decisions, and before voting on what to do, they will all come together and debate topics. The political member with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives becomes the president. The term is four years long and there is no limit on how many times a individual will be Premier in a row. This system of government means that everyone will feel involved, and the action that the government takes won't be questioned as harshly. There also isn't one specific person that is given a lot of power, which means it is less likely that a leader will become corrupt, and nobody can abuse their power because any changes they want to make needs to be run by several people. The many different parties mean that everyone will be able to find at least one party that they agree with, and the representatives are voted on by the citizens themselves, so that everyone in the country is represented. As mentioned, Satisto is usually governed by a coalition of different political parties. Prime minister is usually coming from the party, which won the most seats in the elections. Usually the King gives the leader of the party, which won the elections, or an important politician coming from this party, the task of forming the new government. The constitution does not permit to a member of the parliament to serve in the government.

Head of States

King Pieter Jans Derkma is the nominal head of state of Satisto. The King has several mostly representative functions. He nominates all the mayors in the Netherlands as well as the politician who forms the government after the general elections. The monarch also signs all the laws approved by the parliament.

In the election, there are 5 different parties which are the GoGreens, the Representatives, the Republicans, the Trustees and lastly, the Socialisig party. The GoGreens are about sustainability, peaceful coexistence and equality. As Satisto is also renowned for his passivity in crime and lovely nature this group may have quite a lot of votes. The Representatives are focused on people's health and whether the central government can take a more involved part in people's lives. That is another faction which is receiving a plurality of the votes. The third party is the Republicans who contend that states do not take so much control in the market and industry in a federal government in particular. Next, we have the Trustees, who many citizens will vote for as these are the people that trust for its habitants and want the absolute best for every single one of them. Lastly, we have the Socialising part, who are the one focused on people social lives and behaviour, making sure no one is lonely and feeling down.

JUDICIAL SYSTEM

Satisto adheres to civil law as this renders things equal to the people because the laws that existed in Satisto would have been recognised. The civil law systems rely on written statutes and other legal codes that are constantly updated and which establish legal procedures, punishments, and what can and cannot be brought before a court. In a civil law system, a judge merely establishes the facts of a case and applies remedies found in the codified law. If it was a common rule, there might be a risk that somebody might be accused of a felony or with what you never realised wasn't a statute because the rule is now specified in civil law. There is also no stare decision rule (if it has been determined by the court in the past, it must be dealt with in the same manner that it is now) and often makes things fairer to the individual being prosecuted.  Nor should the person on trial be free unless proved guilty. The jury would include lawyers representing the accused persons, and a judge who is the only person will be allowed will punish the alleged criminal offender. Often, the judiciary cannot be too strong, as it has an original jurisdiction which implies that when a court is first hearing a lawsuit, the court is to retain the original jurisdiction afterwards. The judiciary is independent from the rest of the government, so that they cannot be improperly influenced by other branches of government, or form partisan or private interests. Cases are usually heard by a single judge. In cases of civil law, cases involving rents, or hire purchase or employment, are dealt with by a sub-district judge. Criminal cases can also be heard by a sub-district judge, but only if they are minor offences. More serious or complex cases can be heard by a bench of one to three judges, depending on the seriousness or complexity of the case. Human rights are taken seriously in Satisto, and they are actively enforced by the government. Because most people in Satisto have jobs and the economy is steady, most don't find petty crimes such as robbery appealing, which is one of the reasons why the crime rate in Satisto is so low, and the crime rate is slowly decreasing over the years. Satisto is divided into 11 districts, each with its own court. Each district court is made up of a maximum of 5 sectors, which always include the administrative law, civil law, criminal law and sub-district law sector. Most cases start at a district court. Every district court has a limited jurisdiction sector, which hears cases such as employment or rent disputes, and civil cases involving claims of up to €25,000. This sector also hears cases involving minor criminal offences. The next step is an appeal in cassation at the Supreme Court, Satisto’s highest court in civil, criminal and tax cases. In cassation proceedings the Supreme Court looks not at the facts but at whether the law has been applied properly. If an appeal court judgment is quashed in cassation, the Supreme Court will refer the case back to a different court of appeal. The latter court must then reconsider the case, taking into account the Supreme Court’s judgment. The criminal justice system in Satisto is the system of practices and institutions directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, and sanctioning those who violate laws with criminal penalties and rehabilitation efforts.

It doesn't matter whether an individual is raised in Satisto territories that they'll necessarily assume he or she'll be a Satisto resident. They can immediately become a resident of Satisto even in situations when somebody's parents have abandoned them. There are no laws as to if an infant is an out of wedlock. Citizenship in another country is also enforceable for a Satisto resident.
